  7. NDP FORTRAN-486 incorporates all of the advanced features and code generation
  8. technologies of NDP FORTRAN-386, as well as several optimizations designed to
  9. take advantage of the speed and power of the 80486. NDP FORTRAN-486 is a full
  10. implementation of FORTRAN-77 with VMS, BSD 4.2, FORTRAN-66, and D.O.D
  11. extensions. It is 98 percent VAX/VMS compatible which simplifies the porting of
  12. mainframe applications to your desktop

  14. NDP FORTRAN-486 generates globally optimized, 32-bit, mainframe quality code
  15. that runs in protected mode under UNIX 386 V.3, OS/2, Windows NT, and extended
  16. DOS. The DOS Version includes a Microway linker, librarian, and protected mode
  17. loader and a library of 70 device-independent graphics, keyboard, and sound
  18. routines. The compiler addresses 4 GB of memory while supporting the Intel,
  19. Weitek, and Cyrix numeric coprocessors

  21. NDP FORTRAN-486 includes a ``scheduler/code generator'' that aligns code and
  22. data on 16 byte boundaries, detects and minimizes prefetch buffer starving, and
  23. uses new code sequences that run faster on the 80486 than on the 80386. Code
  24. can be interfaced with assembly language and all four NDP-486 compilers.
